The French ski resort of Les Gets is launching an illuminated, multi-media night walk this summer. The “Lumina night walk” is the first of its kind in a European ski resort and is expected to draw some 120,000 visitors of all ages throughout summer and winter after it is first opened.

A Lumina night walk uses multimedia and light to enhance the natural beauty of the area, immersing the visitor in a totally unique experience (see the YouTube video below). The pathway will be one kilometre long, and while visitors walk for around 45 minutes the surrounding world will be brought to life by characters from local cultures, tales and legends.

There are Lumina night walks in the Canadian ski resorts of Whistler and Mont Tremblant.

Henri Anthonioz, Mayor of Les Gets, said: “We are proud to be the first European tourist resort to present this exclusive, unique and innovative concept, beginning this summer. This will be a first in the Alps. We have been looking for a family activity suitable for all, something connected to nature and accessible all year round, in line with our strategy of four-season diversification, which we began a few years ago”.
