Lots of improvements in Champoluc

The charming village is at one end of Italy’s big Monterosa ski area
Champoluc in Italy’s Monterosa ski area has been put on the UK skiers’ map by small tour operator Ski 2 which pioneered holidays here 20 years ago. Ski 2 now takes around 2,500 guests a year to this charming small resort which gives access to a big ski area which spans three valleys, has pistes to suit all standards and lots of fabulous off-piste.
A new gondola from Champoluc to mid-mountain will open this winter
For the 2018/19 season the 35-year-old gondola from the resort to Crest at mid-mountain will be replaced. The new one will carry 2400 people an hour in smart new 8-seater cabins that will take just over three minutes to reach Crest – increasing the capacity and decreasing the ride time by around one-third. And top station will meet the bottom of the Ostafa gondola which takes you higher – cutting out a tedious trek between the two.
Snowmaking for the local Champoluc slopes is being greatly increased too, thanks a huge new snowmaking reservoir that was built this summer.
The resort’s first 5-star hotel, campZero, opened this summer with 30 luxury two-story suites, a swimming pool, wellness facilities and a climbing wall.

And another new 4-star, Charmant Petit Lac, is due to open in mid-January on the site of the old open air ice rink. It will have just 25 rooms and suites, adult and children’s pools and a wellness area.
Ski 2’s fleet of mini-buses ferry you around the resort and to and from the airport
Ski 2 prides itself on its personal service. It features over 30 hotels in the resort and will tailor make holidays of any length. Ski 2’s prices include private transfers from any of six airports, private mini-bus service on call in the resort, lift passes, ski guiding and vouchers for lunch on the mountain. It also has its own ski school and ski hire shop in resort for the exclusive use of Ski 2 guests.

New for the 2018/19 season is free full day ski guiding for all Ski 2 guests – a great bonus in such a big and spread out ski area.
