Mammoth ends record ski season

The ski season at Mammoth Mountain will end on 6 August
Mammoth Mountain in California is finally bringing to an end its record-breaking ski season, on Sunday 6 August, after 270 days of snow fun.
Record-breaking snowfall across the US and California in particular resulted in Mammoth enjoying the second-longest ski season of all time — with more than 800 inches falling on the summit over the past season. Only once before has this been beaten — over 1994/95 when Mammoth opened on 8 October and closed on 13 August.
Although the rest of August will be given over to mountain biking in the Sierra Nevada mountains, skiers and snowboarders will only have to wait 107 days for Mammoth Mountain to reopen — on 9 November. Or maybe before if the snow falls.
