It’s official – Mammoth has the most snow in North America.

Mammoth Mountain has more snow than anywhere else in North America. So far this month, the Sierra Nevada resort has received a record-breaking snowfall of 6.25 metres (20.5 feet) — smashing the previous record by nearly a metre and it’s still snowing.

The resort is still open, despite the record-breaking storm, with half a dozen lifts in operation and resort workers operating round the clock to get more terrain open — and dig out their cars.

While the Alps languishes in a drought, so far this season Mammoth has recorded nearly nine metres of now, with this last storm cycle producing 1.3m. So much snow has fallen that the resort has just announced it will stay open until 4 July.
