Méribel gains a new mobile equipment rental service this winter, the resort’s first such outfit.

Slide Candy, run by three experienced ski enthusiasts, will offer a mobile delivery service to your accommodation. They don’t have a shop, but you can ring them (or pre-book online) and arrange for skis, boots, boards, even helmets to be brought to the comfort of your chalet or apartment. The idea is to provide simple, competitive pricing and personal fitting, without the hassle of a busy shop.

The equipment you hire is all new for the season ahead; the company can advise on choice, or you specify and they’ll aim to supply. If you are unhappy with your kit, Slide Candy also offers a call-out service to exchange items. Their website has a product and price guide to get you started. Delivery to your accommodation is free, and will cover the Méribel valley and La Tania during the 2010/11 winter.

Typical online prices start at 15 euros per day for an intermediate level ski, 85 euros for six days. These prices include a 10% discount for pre-booking through the website. Slide Candy also offer a basic, next-day ski/board service – edge and wax for 20 euros.
