Morzine restaurant destroyed by fire

Firefighters spent hours tackling the blaze at La Ferme de la Fruitière last night
A restaurant in the heart of French ski resort Morzine has been destroyed by fire.
Diners were evacuated last night when a blaze broke out at La Ferme de la Fruitière, part of the Fruitiere L’Alpage, a working farm and dairy in central Morzine.
The restaurant, on Route de la Plagne, contained an open fire in the main dining room.
“Everyone was escorted out calmly and thankfully nobody was injured. Our thoughts are with the owners as there appears to be a lot of damage,” said the witness on Morzine’s facebook page.
It’s a very sad day for the owners. Le Ferme de la fruitiere Restaurant was built six years ago with local natural materials such as stone and old wood retrieved from ancient farmhouses from all over the Alps.
The furniture was made from old shelves originally used to mature the cheese, retrieved from the farm’s cellar.
