New Generation adds Serre Chevalier

Gavin Crosby - to lead New Gen Serre Chevalier
British-founded ski school New Generation will add Serre Chevalier to its resort list for winter 2010/11 – led by EurekaSKI instructor, Gavin Crosby.
The ‘New Generation Ski School Serre Chevalier’ will be the company’s ninth branch in the French and Swiss Alps. The others are: Courchevel (1650 and 1850), Méribel, La Tania, Tignes, Val d’Isère, Vallandry (Les Arcs) and Verbier.
Top man
Gavin Crosby, an experienced coach and examiner for the ‘British Association of Snowsports Instructors’ (B.A.S.I), will lead a small team of qualified English-speaking instructors in Serre Chevalier (based in Le Monêtier les Bains). Gavin has been teaching skiers in the French resort since 2001, under his ‘EurekaSKI’ brand.
‘I’m really pleased to be bringing a New Generation school to Serre Chevalier. My policy of combining modern ski coaching with individual attention in small groups of skiers, exactly matches that of New Generation’s. My existing client base will love the forward-thinking nature of the business and the range of products we have to offer.’
Gavin will continue to provide modern coaching with individual attention to small groups, working alongside other top instructors to offer quality tuition to their clients.
The school
New Generation was established in 1998 and has developed a wide range of courses. The CORE range is traditional group and private lessons, while FLEXI provides technical and skills classes (moguls, freestyle etc). The new PRO range will give intermediates the chance to move on from the ‘plateau’, using specialist courses and video analysis. Three are available: ‘proXplore’ (themed adventures such as the Vertical Challenge), ‘proFormance’ (for on- or off-piste sessions) and ‘proVenture’ (Gavin Crosby’s tailor-made masterclasses).
And EurekaSKI?
While Gavin Crosby may be moving onto New Generation, the Eureka brand will continue in Serre Chevalier – not as a ski school, but maintaining EurekaSKi Plus. EurekaSKI Plus (managed by Crosby’s wife Mel) will continue to offer a wide range of holiday and in-resort services. These include accommodation finding, airport transfers and equipment rental; plus childcare and lift pass advice.
The resort
Serre Chevalier is an underrated area in the more southerly French Alps, with slopes connected to Briançon – France’s highest town and a UNESCO World Heritage site. The 250km of pistes span a range of peaks, to the spa village of Le Monêtier les Bains; superb varied terrain and lots of woodland runs. Check out our resort page here
New Generation are now taking bookings for next season, with some generous offers available – past clients can claim a 10% discount, for example (before October).
