New hotels open in family ski resorts

The Araucaria Hotel & Spa reopens this December in La Plagne under the new ownership of Assas Hotels
Some more new hotels are opening in the French Alps this winter, updating accommodation offerings in the family-friendly ski resorts of La Rosière’s and La Plagne.
The Hyatt Centric La Rosière opens in a brand new building in Les Eucherts, to the east side of La Rosière this December. The hotel is south-facing, with each of the 69 rooms and suites featuring panoramic views of the mountains. As well as being close to the slopes it is only 200m from La Rosière’s restaurants, bars and shops.
The hotel features suites specially designed for families — with 24 connecting rooms — and has a spa with an indoor pool, indoor and outdoor hot tubs, treatment rooms, stretch and yoga classes. There is also a choice of two restaurants, including an Italian Trattoria that will serve pizzas.
The Hyatt Centric is moving with the times —accepting pets and offering underground parking with a charging point for electric cars. The hotel’s concierge service can arrange everything from ski passes and lessons to dog-sledding and heli-skiing.
In La Plagne, The Araucaria Hotel & Spa reopens this December under the new ownership of Assas Hotels, which owns and runs the Héliopic Sweet & Spa and the Rocky Pop in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc. The 84-room Araucaria has been completely renovated and extended by an extra 1,000m2 to create some new spaces, including a cocktail bar, a cinema and library and a children’s play area.
There are a number of new family rooms sleeping up to five, in a combination of doubles, singles and bunk beds — each decorated with what the four-star hotel describes as “a sense of fun”. The hotel also has a number of connecting rooms that will also suit families who are keen to explore the Paradiski area. In line with its sister hotel, the Héliopic Sweet and Spa in Chamonix, the Araucaria features a Nuxe spa.
The Assas Hotels group is planning to open another mountain hotel in December 2018, in the ski resort of La Clusaz.
