A new 2km long gondola will link two of the snowiest ski resorts in Alps next season, Lech-Zürs and Warth-Schröcken in Austria.

The Arlberg ski area, which takes in the resorts of Lech, St Anton, St Christoph and Stuben, will increase in size by 64km after the lift is installed this summer.

The new 2km-long gondola, called the Auenfeldjet, will open next winter crossing the Auenfeld pass to the Geissbühel Alpe. It will create a link between Lech-Zürs and the resorts of Warth-Schröcken, great news for powder hounds.

Work will begin this spring on the new lift, which is costing €12 million to build. When finished, the Auenfeldjet will be capable of shifting 1,490 skiers and snowboarders per hour.

Thanks to the new lift, the combined ski area of Lech Zürs and Warth-Schröcken will be 190km, and Ski Arlberg will be increased to 340km. The Ski Arlberg lift pass will be valid for the whole region.
