A new five-star hotel is to open in the French ski resort of Val Thorens this winter. The new hotel, Le Pashmina, opens in December and will be the fourth five-star in Val Thorens.

Le Pashmina has been designed as a “luxury mountain refuge” by its owners, the Gorini family, who have lived and operated businesses in Val Thorens since 1972. The ski-in, ski-out hotel on Place du Slalom at the top of the resort will have 50 rooms and suites, two restaurants and a 400m2 swimming pool.

Its pièce de résistance, however, is a geodesic glass dome “Igloo-Pod” on the hotel roof that offers guests the chance to sleep under the stars.

Arnaud and Cédric Gorini opened L’Hôtel des 3 Vallées, one of the first hotels in Val Thorens in 1972 and their restaurant Chalet de la Marine in 2013 became the first slopeside eatery in the Three Valleys resort to earn a Michelin Guide “fourchette”.
