New teen ski race clinic for Val d’Isère

A new ski racing clinic for teenagers has been launched by Le Chardon in Val d’Isère

A new ski racing clinic specifically designed for teenagers has been launched by Le Chardon in the French resort of Val d’Isère.

Luxury ski chalet collection Le Chardon is hosting the five-day clinic during the week starting 16 April, in collaboration with ex-Olympian Alain Baxter and U21 Team GB ski racer Zak Vinter, who are both on hand to offer their experience and know-how to teenage participants.

The week will focus on freestyle, moguls, off-piste and ski racing along with technical extras such as waxing and edging skis. There will also be video analysis and some down time — including hot tub gatherings with specially designed mocktails. The clinic is available for youngsters aged between 13 and 18, who must be confident tackling red pistes.

The Teen Week is designed to offer teen coaching in a variety of disciplines, while their family and younger or older members can still enjoy a typical week’s ski holiday and meet up in the afternoons to share family piste time. It will culminate in family ski race day where the teenagers are pitted against their coach (who will be handicapped), willing family participants and Zak Vinter, who is currently number one in slalom for his age group and sponsored by Le Chardon.

Jamie Rennie, general manager of Le Chardon and a former ski racer himself, said the Teen Week was the company’s latest way of meeting the challenge of trying to keep a whole family happy with teenagers who are desperate to “spread their wings”.

“We’re always looking for new ways to add value to our guests and we hope our teen clinics will help our guests get even more from their week’s holiday.”

The week costs £1,395 per adult and £1,295 for teenagers under 18, with a £500 supplement for the teen clinic.
