Now Switzerland closes its resorts too

Verbier has this afternoon announced the immediate closure of its ski lifts
Switzerland is following Austria, Germany, Norway and Italy with the closure of its ski resorts in the battle to contain Covid-19.
This afternoon, Televerbier announced: “Due to the COVID-19 pandemic…we must unfortunately announce the immediate closure of our ski area and all our ski lifts for the rest of the season. This measure will be applied to all ski areas in our country.”
All ski events planned in Switzerland - including the final of the Freeride World Tour in Verbier - have been cancelled.
Verbier’s statement continues: “After such a beautiful first part of the season and a second one which looked very promising due to the fabulous snow conditions, we are all very sad and sorry about this outcome. However in view of the evolution of this pandemic, we respect and apply without restraint the decision of our authorities to solve this public health problem.”
So far, France is keeping ski resorts open.
