Olympic chair moves to Banff

Sunshine slopes
A chairlift installed temporarily for the 2010 Vancouver Olympic and Paralympic Games is moving to a new home in Banff.
The fast quad used to transport spectators and athletes to the Alpine events in Whistler will be kept as a legacy to the Games for the local community, but put to good use in the Sunshine Village ski area near Banff.
The chairlift will be replacing the slow Strawberry triple chair – a 35 year old installation nearing the end of its service life – which serves novice terrain on Sunshine’s Mount Standish slopes. This will improve access for beginners and progressing novices to the blue and green runs there. And those who ride it can enjoy a little piece of sporting memorabilia!
