Pamporovo calls in the police

1st November 2010, by Chris Gill

Bulgaria’s Pamporovo resort will get its own piste police this season, according to local reports.

Team ‘Pamporovo’ will include regular police officers and other resort staff to manage behaviour in the ski area. Not that the resort is being singled out as notably rowdy, but that they are looking for ways to keep a check on aprés-ski drunkeness and related incidents, as well as solve more general public issues such as parking problems. Sounds like a good plan: more resorts should follow suit.

Pamporovo is quietly investing in its ski area facilities too, and this year reveals 20 new snow-guns to cover another 14km of slopes with artificial snow. Also, some slopes have been remodelled, signing improved and floodlit skiing introduced.
