Park City in Utah is planning a fourth ski area on 5,000 acres of private land next to Deer Valley that has reportedly been purchased for $1 billion. The new area, to be called the Mayflower Mountain Resort and Village, will bring 900 new acres of mainly north-facing ski terrain to the area, with a proposed seven new lifts.

The base village plan includes a mix of apartments and hotels — including a four- and five-star hotel and 40,000sqft conference centre.

Few other details have been released yet, other than the build of the resort is likely to take between 15 and 40 years — though some lifts are being planned for build next summer. Plans also include Alpine and Nordic skiing tracks, an Alpine coaster, sledging hills, an ice-skating reach, something called a “ski beach” and summer facilities.

Funding for Mayflower Mountain Resort has been secured in part thanks to the involvement of the Military Installation Development Authority (MIDA).
