Vail Resorts has rebranded Utah ski resorts Park City and Canyons as Park City

The Utah ski resort of Park City has rebranded itself as … Park City.

Last year, Vail Resorts purchased Park City, together with neighbouring ski resort Canyons, announcing plans to link the two together. Yesterday, it announced that they would be collectively known as Park City.

Marketing bods have been employed to come up with the new branding, and a new logo that combines the two, with the tag line: “There is only one. Park City.”

“We are honoured to have the community’s support as we unveil the new Park City brand,” said Park City’s chief operating officer, Bill Rock.

“The tag line ‘There is only one’ is perfect because there is no place like Park City. The town is already universally celebrated as one of the best ski destinations in the world and now will be home to the largest ski resort in the United States. We should all be proud of this mountain and this community as we invite the world to experience the combined resort during the upcoming 2015-16 winter season.

At the same time, Park City announced the name of the lift that will link the two — Quicksilver. The eight-man, high-speed two-way gondola will transport skiers and snowboarders from the base of the existing Silverlode Lift at Park City to the Flatiron Lift at Canyons.

The linking of Park City and Canyons is part of a US$50-million capital improvement project that will transform the two resorts into one and complete a number of critical upgrades to the infrastructure. The project is one of the most ambitious and impactful capital programs in U.S. ski industry history and will create the largest ski resort in the United States with over 7,300 acres of skiable terrain.
