Swiss has negotiated a discount on parking at London City

Because it is the only major airline that now offers free ski carriage Swiss remains one of the most competitive airlines for skiers this winter. And a new car parking deal makes Swiss flights from London City airport more attractive, too

The award-winning airline runs seven daily flights from London Heathrow to Zurich, six to Geneva and up to seven a day from London City to Zurich, Geneva and Basel — as well as regular daily services from Manchester, Birmingham and Dublin to Zurich.

A quick WTSS price comparison with budget airline Easyjet showed that if you’re planning a long weekend in February, flights from London City to Geneva will set you back just £179.03 with Swiss (leaving 08.35 on the Friday, returning 20:05 on the Monday) but after you’ve added luggage and skis, similar flights with Easyjet from London Gatwick (leaving 08:15, returning 21:30) cost £273.98.

London City is a popular airport among skiers in London and the East of England, but parking is pricey. Making Swiss flights an even more attractive prospect, the airline Swiss has negotiated a parking discount of up to 62.5% for its customers. So on that long weekend in February, four days’ parking costs £90 — 44% off the drive-up price. And if you’re going away for a week, save 57% on seven days’ parking — £120.

Suffolk-based WTSS editor Dave Watts is a big fan of City. He said: “‘I love flying from City airport because it is small and compact. You can walk from the car park to the terminal in a couple of minutes, the latest check-in time is only 30 minutes before the flight and on the way back your bags often reach the collection area before you do.”
