Peak Retreats wins The Times Travel Editor’s Award

Peak Retreats offers skiing from 57 mountain villages in France chosen for their charm
Peak Retreats has won The Times Travel Editor’s Award 2018 for offering skiers a ‘slice of rural France’ and helping to make their ski trips unforgettable. The company offers a range of luxury self-catered apartments, self-catered chalets and hotels in 57 mountain villages in France chosen for their charm and easy access to great skiing
The award was given to Peak Retreats on 20 September at The News UK Travel Awards ceremony near Johannesburg, South Africa by Times Travel Editor, Jane Knight. Jane tweeted her congratulations saying that Peak Retreats is ‘a great ski company with small charismatic villages and a slice of rural France.’
Peak Retreats was founded in 2002 by Xavier Schouller and Nathalie Soma to offer skiers the chance to discover real Alpine France; first-class accommodation, stunning scenery and unspoiled, traditional, welcoming mountain villages with access to amazing and often “off-the-beaten-track” skiing.
The company has excellent local contacts in the French Alps and a unique perspective, combining a passionate UK-based team and French know-how, gives Peak Retreats a clear advantage.

Xavier Schouller said: ‘I’m immensely proud that Peak Retreats has been given this very special award. To be recognised by one of the UK’s most influential travel editors is just fantastic. It’s a great tribute to everyone in our team and testament to the fact that the UK ski market wants to discover the real French Alps; traditional resorts away from the crowds yet with access to brilliant skiing.”
He added: “Finding these hidden gems is what we do best.”
Where to Ski & Snowboard editors Dave Watts and Chris Gill have been quick to add their congratulations.
“Peak Retreats and Ski Collection have first-class knowledge of all the ski resorts they feature,” said Editor Watts. “If I need more information about the best places to stay or eat, they are my first port of call for recommendations.”
Editor Gill added: “We are so impressed with their programme that we asked them to pick out the best apartments in each of the major resorts we feature in the forthcoming Where to Ski in France book.”
The annual The Times, The Sunday Times and The Sunday Times Travel Magazine Travel Awards 2018 are now in their sixth year, celebrating the destinations and companies that have made readers’ trips unforgettable.
