Readers take winning trip to La Plagne

Keith Wild enjoyed empty pistes, blue skies and no queues in La Plagne in April
Where to Ski and Snowboard reader Keith Wild and his wife Alison have returned from a trip to La Plagne that they won for submitting a resort report for this year’s book. Mr Wild said despite having surgery on both his legs at the end of January, he averaged 55km on skis every day, thanks to queue-less spring skiing in the French resort.
The Wilds chose to stay in Chalets Edelweiss in La Plagne 1800 after winning a week’s stay with Lagrange Holidays. They booked a last-minute trip, visiting the French resort from 9-16 April.
“We had a wonderful week — we’d not been to La Plagne before, so it was a new resort,” said Mr Wild. “The chalet’s location was excellent in terms of ski in/out, and although La Plagne 1800 is not overly blessed with night time entertainment, we used the free buses to good effect and had virtually a different night in a different sector of La Plagne.”
The couple looked for a high, snow-sure resort and chose the self-catering Chalets Edelweiss residence in 1800 because of its proximity to the snow — and the nearby walking options for Alison, who was not skiing.
“The free bus service meant that Alison could more easily access lifts that were permissible on the walkers’ lift pass, which was excellent value at €38 for the week,” said Mr Wild.
“Another factor in choosing La Plagne was proximity to airport as we hired a car and did not want a long transfer, coupled with proximity to other higher resorts should we chose to drive for a day out.”
Mr Wild added: “The apartment was very spacious and well appointed, and the end-of-stay cleaning was so appreciated.”
The ski-in, ski-out Chalets Edelweiss in La Plagne 1800
Hetty Partington, Interim Sales and Marketing Manager for Lagrange Holidays said: “As well as being ideally situated right in the heart of Plagne 1800, the self-catering residence Les Chalets Edelweiss also offers facilities such as an indoor heated swimming pool, sauna and steam room and bakery service, and is a great choice for April ski breaks, thanks to its convenient location close to the slopes and ski lifts giving access to high-altitude skiing.
“It was a real pleasure to speak with Mr Wild and to help him decide which of our Lagrange self-catering residences to choose for his prize ski holiday, and I am very happy to hear that he and his wife enjoyed their stay in Plagne 1800!”
