Glide and ride under the sun [Saas Fee Ride - Allalin terrain park]
Freestyle fans will be keeping their fingers crossed that this year’s Saas Fee Ride will go ahead as planned on 23 July.
Saas Fee’s biggest summer snow festival marks the start of the glacier ski season in the Swiss resort – although the slopes are officially due to reopen on 9 July. The Ride is an annual freestyle festival that takes place high on the Allalin glacier. In recent years poor weather or snow conditions have forced the event to be cancelled; at the moment it is sunny and warm up there, with good snow depths on the glacier slopes.
The summer terrain park is shaped and refined to host some of Europe’s best Big Air and Rail Jam professionals; but also includes amateur events, camps and parties.
The ski area is open daily from 7am until 1pm (end of August), then 2pm. A one-day lift pass costs 67SF (approx 43 euros).
