Schladming opens 10-seater gondola

The 10-seater gondola is in the Planai section of Schladming's ski area
The Austrian ski resort of Schladming-Dachstein has opened a new 10-seat gondola in the Planai section of its ski area. The lift, which replaces an old six-seater ‘bubble’, uses state-of-the-art technology to increase capacity by an incredible 70 per cent.
The cabins on the new gondola are larger than usual, and ergonomically shaped with huge glass windows along with individual wood and leather seats to give skiers maximum comfort. Up to 3,800 people can be transported per hour, on a twelve-minute journey with adapted driving speed at top and bottom stations to make loading and unloading easier.
The old six-seater lift was dismantled and shipped to Argentina where it is being rebuilt in the Las Leñas ski area.
Schladming is a two-hour drive from Klagenfurt Airport, and has recently joined forces with both the airport and Easyjet to offer skiers free transport to their hotels in Austria, worth more than €200 return (or approximately £170). Click here for more information.
