Skiing and boarding has started in Scotland this weekend, with the first runs open at Cairngorm Mountain.

A few hardy souls hit the slopes on Saturday 28 November for the first turns of the season. Although a misty day, snow cover on the upper mountain provided fresh drifted powder to play on and light winds.

All of the Top Basin runs are complete, groomed and full width – served by two T-bars and the funicular railway. The Ptarmigan Bowl and Ciste Fairway have the best cover so far, but reports suggest the middle runs are filling in slowly.
Unfortunately, just as things got started so another storm has put play on hold on Sunday. The good news is that it’s snowing again though! And down to 1500m.

At present Cairngorm will only be open for snow sports at weekends, but the situation will be reviewed should the snowfalls continue.
