Second consequence weekend of snowfall in the Alps
For the second consecutive weekend in the row, there has been snow falling on the higher slopes in the Alps, the particular the Stubai glacier in Austria which reported 20cm of snow, whilst the Hintertux glacier, also in Austria, reported 30cm of snow last weekend and visitors were powder skiing at the start of last week, however the Moltal Austrian glacier posted the biggest accumulation over the two days of 50cm.
There are six glacier areas in Austria, Italy and Switzerland (two in each country) that are currently open. Eight more glacier ski areas are due to open in the Alps this month, but this is subject to snow conditions, they are the six Austrian glaciers of Dachstein, Kauntertal, Kitzsteinhorn, Pitztal, Solden and Stubai along with Tignes in France and Val Senales in Italy.
