Skiers in La Plagne and Les Arcs will be boarding a funky cable car over the coming season, thanks to leading fashion designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac.

The largest cable car in the world — the Vanoise Express in Paradiski — has been decorated by JC de Castelbajac, to celebrate the ski area’s 10th birthday. Paradiski is the largest ski domain in Savoie, and links the resorts of Les Arcs, Peisey-Vallandry and La Plagne.

The Moroccan-born designer has created clothes for Madonna and supermodel Helena Christensen, and was commissioned to decorate the two double cable cars on the Vanoise Express, which links La Plagne with Les Arcs.

Paradiski has been holding birthday celebrations around Europe, with a special event in London’s Tower Bridge walkway in September. Last week, a big birthday bash was held in Paris at the Musée Grévin, where JC’s cable car designs were unveiled.

The decorated cars will be running on the Vanoise Express from 21 December.
