Learnt to ski or pick up new skills at slopes across England during October

For the next month, slopes across England are offering free and discounted skiing and snowboarding in the run up to the ski-season.

The scheme called 30 Days of Snowsport is run by Snowsport England in conjunction with Visit Andorra to encourage people to try skiing and snowboarding or, if they are already a fan, to try something new, such as ski racing or freestyle. It will also help to build excitement and anticipation ahead of the Winter Olympics, which take place in South Korea next February.

There are more than 70 free or discounted sessions available across the country for 30 Days of Snowsport, which runs throughout October — with highlights including free taster sessions with Andorra instructors at SnowDome in Tamworth on over the weekend of 21-22 October.

* First three Sundays in October – Chill Factore in Manchester offering DISCOUNTED 50-minute ski or snowboard taster session @ £6
* Every Thursday in October – Ackers Adventure in Birmingham offering DISCOUNTED 1.5-hour beginner and recreational skiing sessions @ £12
* Every Sunday of 30 Days of Snowsport - FREE ski sessions with Lions Ski Club at Snozone Castleford
* 8 and 29 October – FREE rollerski sessions with York Go Roller Ski Club
* 14 October - Kidsgrove Ski Centre are putting on 30-minute FREE taster sessions
* 14-15 October - SnowDome in Tamworth are running DISCOUNTED snowboarding taster sessions @ £10 (from eight years old)
* 16 October – DISCOUNTED race training taster session for under 12s with Hemel Ski Race Club @ The Snow Centre
* 21-22 October – FREE ski or snowboard taster sessions and giveaways from Andorra instructors at SnowDome Tamworth
* 22 and 29 October — Silksworth Ski Slope in Sunderland are running FREE roller ski and freestyle taster sessions
* 31 October – DISCOUNTED three-hour ski and snowboard freestyle sessions at SnowDome Tamworth
* First three Wednesdays and Thursdays in October – FREE taster sessions with Ravens Ski Club and Tigers Ski Club at Silksworth Ski Slope
