Skiplex will be running introductory ski racing sessions for children

Children aged between six and 10 years old are being offered an introduction to ski racing at Skiplex later this summer.

The new ski race camp, set up by Skiplex in association with the British Alpine Racing Ski Clubs (BARSC), will give young skiers an opportunity to fast-track into ski racing and the chance to train with top British race coaches.

The sessions will take place from 8-10am every Sunday morning from 14 September at all three Skiplex centres of Reading, Basingstoke and Chiswick. The sessions will run alongside school term times.

To take part, children must already able to ski in parallel, have a passion for skiing and want to take that to the next level by starting ski racing. Each two-hour session costs £40 and children will spend that time both on the slopes with a fully qualified race coach, and off the slope on activities to help improve their technique and fitness.

Georgina Morris, chairman of BARSC said: “This is an exciting development for BARSC and the sport of ski racing. This relationship will encourage more young children to participate in the sport and with the support of Skiplex, we are confident of being able to achieve this aim.”
