Ski resort map of the Alps launched

The Ski Resort Map of the Alps is a paper map on a scale of 1:1,336,500
A new map of the Alps has been launched offering help for skiers and snowboarders planning their own independent adventures.
The new Ski Resort Map of the Alps is a traditional, fold-out paper map on a scale of 1:1,336,500. It shows 640 ski resorts across seven different European countries, along with more than 30 airports and detailed transport network of roads, railways and ferries.
The Ski Resort Map of the Alps also provides detailed information on 100 selected ski resorts including the extent of downhill and cross-country skiing, the number of lifts, altitude range, availability of glacier skiing and accessibility by train.
It includes handy at-a-glance details for those ski resorts on a rail network (marked by a square yellow symbol), those with their own airports (circled in pink), ferry routes on large Alpine lakes as well as main road tunnels and winter pass closures. It also details the height of major peaks.
The Ski Resort Map of the Alps has been produced by 2theAlps, a new organisation specialising in maps and Alpine travel information. Marketing managers Neil Guthrie explains: “British skiers tend to flock to the same 20 or so resorts every year in their tens of thousands. Our map will encourage them to broaden their horizons, and discover the full extent of Europe’s number one winter-sports mountains range. It will open up previously unknown transport options from scenic mountain railways crossing vertiginous viaducts, to bus routes along remote snowy valleys and ferry trips across spectacular Alpine lakes.
The map is available from Waterstones, Stanfords and 2theAlps.com.
