The Ski and Snowboard show celebrates 40 years in London this October

InTheSnow Live, the ski show planned for Birmingham in October, has been cancelled following a clash of dates with a new show launching in Manchester.

Running in the place of the British Ski and Snowboard Show, the all-new InTheSnow Live was due to take place at the NEC from 25 to 26 October. But plans for the InTheSnow Live have now been put on ice following the announcement of another ski show in Manchester over the same dates.

The Manchester ski show at EventCity is being run for the first time this year as an extension of the popular London Ski Show by its organisers VOS Media.

Birmingham ski show organisers said that when they announced InTheSnow Live they did not know that VOS Media had plans to launch a new show in Manchester on the same weekend.

At a fragile time for the British ski industry — which last month finally showed signs of modest growth for the first time in four years — both VOS Media and InTheSnow agreed only one show should take place in the north. Many companies — and ski resorts — do not have the resources to exhibit at two shows over the same weekend, and visitors would also have been split.

Dominic Killinger, show director at InTheSnow Live said: “We are very pleased that two competing companies in the market can sit down and agree what’s best for the industry as a whole and work towards a common goal of attracting new skiers to a stronger market.”

VOS Media managing director Damian Norman said: “It’s clear that the industry cannot withstand two shows in one weekend however they are placed geographically and it’s testament to both companies’ passion for the ski industry that we have been able to agree a way forward to the benefit of the industry.”

The Ski and Snowboard Show in London celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, and takes place at Earls Court from 30 October to 3 November — over half term — with free entry for children under 11. The Manchester Ski and Snowboard Show takes place at EventCity from 25 to 27 October. For more information on both, visit skiandsnowboard.co.uk

Where to Ski and Snowboard will be running a ticket giveaway for both events, so stay tuned!
