High dining took on a new meaning last night (Thursday, 12 February) in Paradiski in the French Alps. The Vanoise Express cable car, which ferries skiers and snowboarders between Les Arcs/Peisey-Vallandry and La Plagne was turned into a restaurant for 36 lucky guests.

The cable car was transformed into a fine-dining cabin within just two hours, ready for a mountain cuisine revisited-themed dinner, prepared by Stéphane Froidevaux , the head chef of Fantin Latour in Grenoble.

The Vanoise Express was suspended at 380m above the valley for an hour and a half while the guests – chosen by lottery – tucked into dining delights including ice soup foam undergrowth, a terrine of foie gras, rare duck with blackberry and cardamom and a hotpot revisited with orange aromas and black truffle.

And the finale? A dessert that represented the solar system and its planets with three chocolates. Yum!
