Skiers hit the powder in Araphoe Basin

The ski resort of Arapahoe Basin in Colorado has had 44in of new snow since 1 May
While UK skiers are wondering whether the weather will warm up sufficiently to get out the BBQ this weekend, it’s a different story for skiers in Colorado.
Weeks after most ski resorts closed their lifts on the 2014/15 season, Arapahoe Basin is still going strong. An incredible 44in of snow has fallen since 1 May, including three in the past 24 hours. With sunshine and clear skies forecast for the weekend, it looks like another stunning spring skiing weekend in the 900-acre day-skiing area close to Keystone, Colorado.
“We are having a fantastic May, it kind of makes up for the dry end of winter we had — people are happy, the snow is great,” said Alan Henceroth, Arapahoe Basin COO.
“We have said we will stay open until 7 June, but with all the new snow we could stay open a few days longer.”
A beer and music festival is planned for this weekend. Last season, Arapahoe stayed open until 22 June.
