Fancy staying up the mountain in a cosy, charming lodge? Opening this winter in the Austrian Tirol is chalet Wedelhütte in Hochzillertal.

The lodge is built on the slopes at 2350m, and unlike your typical mountain hut this one offers 5-star comfort – a top-notch chalet, hotel and ski lodge at the high point in the ski area.

The chalet style hotel incorporates ten luxury suites sleeping 2-4; separate dining room and a spa. You’ll be pampered with all the mod-cons you could wish for in a mountain hut: sauna, internet, tea in your room, relaxing lounge and slippers …

In the same building, skiers not staying there can enjoy the mountain restaurant and terrace – with views to the Wimbachkopf and Marchkopf. And gourmet diners can reserve lunch at the Premium Wedler Lounge.

Guests staying at the lodge can also partake of a weekly wine-tasting session; the Wedelhütte stocks a wide range of wines in its cellar.
And like most Austrian huts this one will offer various après-ski events and activities – with a touch of class, no doubt.

Prices start at 149 euros per night half-board. Alpin Packages are also available to add onto your stay, including each of a guided snowshoe, ski tour and 3-hour ski lesson with an instructor.

Hochzillertal forms part of the Ski-Optimal region and sits above Kaltenbach – a short rail journey down the line from Mayrhofen. The 166km pistes are shared with Hochfügen. The Wedelhütte can only be reached by gondola or on skis – fabulously romantic or just simply wonderful mountain isolation!
