Perfect snow for the Hahnenkamm

Conditions are set to be perfect for this weekend’s Hahnenkamm in Kitzbühel
Conditions are set to be perfect for this weekend’s Hahnenkamm in Kitzbühel — with two days of training runs on the Streif complete.
Last weekend, world cup downhill racing had to be cancelled on the Lauberhorn in Wengen after more than 40cm of snow fell overnight. After a week of cold temperatures and further snow flurries (which we’ve been experiencing first hand in St Anton), the stage is set for some fantastic racing in Kitzbühel this weekend.
Sunshine and blue skies are forecast for the weekend, with a snow depth of 84cm in the Austrian Tirol resort.
The Streif is considered the most challenging downhill course in the world thanks to the variety of terrain. Over the 3,312m run there is a drop of 860m in elevation, and while there is an average gradient of 27 degrees, the steepest section is a whopping 87 degrees.
Austrian TV station Laola has put together this video selection of the best moments of the Hahnenkamm — watch them here.
