Snow storm hits Perisher ski resort

Perisher will open this week to the best early season snow conditions since 2000
The ski resort of Perisher in New South Wales, Australia, will open this coming week while enjoying the same cold and wintery conditions that besieged the Alps last season.
Perisher has received more than 80cm of snow since last Wednesday (13 June), giving the ski resorts its best early season conditions for nearly 20 years.
Perisher’s Chief Operating Officer, Peter Brulisauer, said: “The skiing this weekend (23-24 June) will be amazing across all four resort areas with at least 32 lifts operating. It looks like the best early season conditions Perisher has seen since 2000”.
The area will begin to open on Thursday for the first time this season, starting with Blue Cow, followed by Mt Perisher on Friday and Guthega on Saturday.
Resort workers say the early winter storm has “hit Perisher like a freight train and has not let up for a minute” and that the snow, combined with bitterly cold temperatures, are allowing the snowmaking team to pump snow out all week to give an exceptional early season base.
