Snowboard event in Davos pulled for 2014

One of the biggest and most popular snowboarding events in Davos will not take place this season.
The 6* TTR O’Neill Evolution, which since its 2006 launch kicked off the new competition year will not run in January 2014.
The event is part of the World Snowboard Tour and took place at Jakobshorn in Davos Dorf this year from 14 to 19 January, offering a prize pot of US$150,000 (£97,000).
Claudio Curiger, marketing director for O’Neill Switzerland, said: “We are working on a new strategy for the brand, while major events are no longer an issue for the time being.”
O’Neill will maintain a presence in the Swiss ski resort, sponsoring Jatzparks for the coming season, and keeping open its retail store next to the valley station of Jacob Horn.
Marcel Kunert, director of events for Davos and Klosters said: “We see the situation as an opportunity to expand the existing events or even build something new.”
