The world’s first music festival on snow is branching out — to Sun Peaks in Canada in its North American debut next spring.
Snowbombing, the festival that takes place in Mayrhofen, Austria, every year, will travel to the British Columbia ski resort for the Coors Light Snowbombing Canada festival from 6 to 10 April.
Organiser Gareth Cooper says: “20 years ago when we started Snowbombing it was a very distant dream to one day do it in North America. Now, with the help of an iconic brand like Coors Light, that dream is to become a reality and we are so proud and excited to be able to launch Snowbombing, Canada in the stunning Sun Peaks resort.
“Not only is this one of the best ski locations in Canada, but strangely it looks just like our Austrian home, Mayrhofen! We cannot wait to come and share our unique style of après ski and passion for music with the people of Canada.”
The event’s line-up will be released this autumn and will include global headliners and world-class artists. Full event and package details will be announced later this month with package pricing including accommodation and festival tickets.
“Sun Peaks Resort is excited to partner with Coors Light Snowbombing Canada to host Canada’s greatest music festival on snow,” says Darcy Alexander, general manager of Sun Peaks Resort. “Sun Peaks is coming off a record winter season and this partnership will help us attract new snow sport and music enthusiasts from around the globe. As we continue to evolve as a leading destination resort, I can think of no better way to celebrate than by announcing Sun Peaks will be home to one of the world’s premiere music festivals.”
The original snowbombing event — now in its 18th year — will take place in Mayrhofen from 3-8 April, promising an even bigger line-up of top-name, world-class acts including Kasabian, Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim, Carl Cox and Craig David —to mention just a few.
Tickets for Mayrhofen area on sale now, with pricing starting from £249 for five nights’ accommodation and a festival wristband. For more information on both events, visit snowbombing.com
