Snowjet is increasing the frequency of its flights to and from Sion airport in Switzerland.

The Stansted-Sion flights, which have just completed their first winter season, will run three times per week from February 2011. The flights will operate on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, at sensibly timed slots - out in the mornings, return to the UK by late afternoon.

The airline introduced the new route to UK customers in 2009, to offer an alternative to Geneva and greatly reducing transfer times to ski resorts in the Valais region. So far, it looks to have been a successful move. The company also runs free bus transfers from the airport to the city’s railway/bus stations.  From Sion it is minutes to Crans Montana, Anzere and Veysonnaz or Nendaz; and makes getting to Zermatt or Saas Fee a ‘breeze’ in comparison with the long drive from Geneva.

Snowjet’s winter flights, which also operate from Gatwick and Manchester to Chambéry in France, are now on sale for 2010/11 should you wish to claim an early seat to the slopes.
