As the Tignes glacier gets going on its summer season, Snowpod has opened its funky apartment accommodation for summer visitors.

Snowpod offers good-value self-catering ‘pods’ from £25 per person per week. What’s more, you get to sample their award-winning interior design: stainless steel, retro, shagpile, graffiti art style. How about a bed surrounded by maps and a mountain-print duvet? It’s meant to be hip and youthful at a low price.

Tignes has more activities in summer than many people might imagine of a high purpose-built French resort. As well as the daily glacier skiing - 20km slopes now open for the summer from 7.15am-midday - mountain biking is a popular alternative. This season there is a new bike park, and the resort is offering guests free bike passes to access the various trails around the area.

Snowpod is based in Val Claret, with short-stay or week-long lodging available. Tignes is open itself is open until the end of August.
