Steamboat plans night skiing

Steamboat Springs plans to light five trails from the top of Christie Peak
Steamboat Springs is planning to introduce floodlights on five ski runs for this coming season.
The plan would light up around 1,000 vertical feet on Sitz, See Me, See Ya, Vogue and Stampede as well as the Lil’ Rodeo terrain park — from the top of Christie Peak to the base area.
The lights would extend the skiing day in Steamboat until 9.30pm, adding the resort to a list of only a handful of Colorado ski areas to offer night skiing. Keystone and Telluride are two of the bigger Colorado resorts that currently offer night skiing.
In addition, Alaska Airlines has announced it will fly between Seattle and Steamboat Springs on Wednesdays and Saturday from 18 December 2013 to the end of March 2014.
Steamboat’s marketing board has pledged minimum revenue guarantees to secure the flight, which connects the ski area with a major hub offering direct flights to Asia.
