Storm brings snow to the Alps

The cross-country trails in Seefeld are already open
Temperatures have dipped in the UK this week, and they have also dipped in the Alps. A storm has passed through last night, continuing into this morning, bringing snow to eastern areas — up to 70cm in some areas — even to the city centre in Innsbruck.
Residents in Seefeld, Austria, are taking advantage and have opened their cross-country trails — unbelievable for early October. This morning Stubai has had 68cm and Hintertux 40cm of snow has fallen.

In North America, the first snow has been falling in the Rockies — Breckenridge posted this picture on Thursday (below). In Canada, Marmot Basin currently has a base layer of 16cm and plans to open on 8 November.
