Over one million skiers and boarders, from 38 different countries, visited Laax this winter – one of the best seasons so far for the Swiss resort.

Laax shares slopes with Flims and Falera in south-east Switzerland, near Chur. A much-underrated area, British visitors are gradually discovering the Weisse Arena slopes; most are pleasantly surprised by what they find – 220km piste and a snow-sure glacier. More recently, visitor numbers have grown with the prominence of the snowboarding scene and such high profile events as The Brits.

The Head of Communication and Marketing of the Weisse Arena Gruppe, Britta Kaula said: ‘It has been a really great season in LAAX; there have been a number of highlights including being awarded Wallpaper’s “best new ski resort” and this year’s BRITS and Burton European Open. But next year will be even better, with construction of our new, indoor, freestyle training centre – the first in The Alps – already underway!’
