Why stop skiing when summer starts? Head for the Hintertux glacier and sign up for a summer performance camp.

The Austria Racing Camps and Fishcer Racing Camps run weekly during the summer, offering adults and kids the chance to brush up their skills and develop new ones ahead of the next winter season. The Austria Racing Camp includes five days of coaching, equipment testing of Atomic skis and boots, video analysis and afternoon activities. The courses run every Sunday-Thursday from 4 July and cost 535 euros per person, including full board lodging at the Hotel Hintertuxerhof.

The Fischer brand is also running summer courses, from Sunday to Friday each week. These include similar activities, plus ski technology lectures, a wax course and coordination and conditioning training. There are various race run elements, such as blast through the forest runs should the snow be in condition. The camps start from the end of June and cost from 599 euros (also full board).

Early and late season camps can be a good way to extend the slope time and keep in trim for the next winter – the Hintertux glacier is home to plenty of choice throughout the off-seasons (including early training in the autumn).

The glacier, near Mayrhofen, is open all year and with some of the most reliable summer snow in the Alps.
