Swiss International Airlines will be operating three flights between London Heathrow and Sion Airport next February half term to alleviate some of the seasonal pressure that week.

Sion Airport is a short hop to the Valais ski resorts of Verbier, Les 4 Vallées, Anzere and Crans-Montana as well as Saas-Fee and Zermatt. The direct flight in to Sion will cut down transfer times to these resorts from between two and three hours to one or one and a half hours only.

The good news is that SWISS is hoping to add the Sion service to its UK-Switzerland network full time from next season. The airline currently operates a fairly staggering 59 flights per week from London to Geneva during the winter.

SWISS’ Director for UK and Ireland, Felix Rodel, said: “We are delighted to be offering a new seasonal service in the Swiss Valais region that transports our passengers directly into the Swiss mountains and popular ski destinations. We hope the introduction of this service will provide our customers with a convenient and affordable way to visit the many beautiful regions of Switzerland during the peak winter season.”

SWISS also accommodates the transport of your first set of ski or snowboard equipment and boots free of charge in addition to your standard free baggage allowance. SWISS hopes to add Sion to its extensive UK to Switzerland network in the future.
