Representatives from the Swiss Portes du Soleil region will take part in a UK ski event in Wales next month.

Switzerland Tourism and the resorts of Les Crosets and Champéry are sponsoring the Celtic Cup ski competition, which sees the UK’s top seeded skiers race on the Pontypool dry ski slope in Wales. This is a two-day event of slalom racing on the 250m long run, and the opportunity for the Swiss to promote their ski areas.

Welsh ski teams already have a successful affiliation with Champéry and Les Crosets, having held its national alpine championships there for the past four years – this is actually an International event, with teams competing from lots of different countries.

If you’re in Wales and fancy a day out, combined with some Swiss Alpine atmosphere and some action on the slopes, get along to the Pontypool ski centre. There will be plenty of advice about holidaying in the Swiss Alps too.

Chief Executive of Snowsport Wales, Robin Kellen said: ‘It’s great to see the Swiss coming to Wales to watch and support our event. Following the success of our Welsh Championships in Champery, hosting the Swiss on the slopes in Wales will be very interesting”

The Celtic Cup Slalom and Giant Slalom takes place on 12 June , from 10am until 4pm. The slalom events continue on the 13 June too.
