The resorts of Morillon, Samoëns and Sixt will host a Nordic festival on 24 January: Festi’Nordic 2010.
The Grand Massif resorts have got together to offer visitors the chance to sample a range of valley activities for free. You could try biathlon (with a rifle!), stride out on a nordic walk, go cross-country skiing or dog sledding, or join in the GPS orientation race. Each taster session last from 30-60 minutes, with advice on technique and equipment too.
As well as the sporting activities, there are also practical events such as avalanche search techniques and fun activities for the kids.
To join in the day, you’ll need a festival ticket – but the activities are free of charge, as is the kit needed to participate. Most events start at Samoën’s leisure centre from 10am.
