Tignes opens panoramic deck on Grande Motte cable car

The Grand Motte cable car is opening a panoramic roof terrace this summer
The ski resort of Tignes is offer visitors a brand new way to see the Vanoise National Park and travel up to the Grande Motte Glacier this summer — from the roof of the Grande Motte cable car.
It’s taken three years to adapt the lift to create the highest panoramic cable car roof terrace in the world, but the two cabins will carry 100 people each on their roofs, and offer 360-degree views.
The lifts will start operating on 22 June through to 30 August, with prices set at €35 for adults and €28 for children — if they’re skiing or snowboarding on the Grande Motte glacier. If you’re just planning to travel up as a pedestrian, the view will be equally spectacular and prices at €20 for an adult return trip and €10 for children.
The lift climbs within five minutes to the top of the glacier at 3,456m, so even if you suffer slightly from vertigo, it’s a bearable journey. The innovation is part of a global project initiated by the Grande Motte cable-car company (STGM) and the Vanoise National Park.
