Tour operator Ski 2 branches out

Tour operator Ski 2 is offering Morzine for the 2019/20 ski season
Ski 2 started up over 20 years ago as a specialist in Champoluc in Italy’s Monterosa ski area. It now takes around 2,500 people a year there and features over 30 hotels and apartments.
Its USP has always been personal service and flexibility. Much of its business is short breaks of three or four nights. Their prices include private transfers from your choice of airport, lift passes, ski hosting on the mountain, vouchers for lunch on the mountain and an on-call minibus service to and from the lifts.
It’s one of my favourite areas for high-speed piste cruising. On my 2019 visit I covered more than 8,000 vertical metres and almost 50km in a day – see my blog here.
Three seasons ago they branched out offering catered chalets and self-catered apartments in the charming village of Les Gets, on the edge of the French sector of the huge Portes du Soleil ski area. This season they are also running a catered chalet on the outskirts of Morzine, near the gondola up from Les Prodains to Avoriaz.
In both Les Gets and Morzine, they run their on-call mini-bus services to shuttle you wherever you want and their prices include lift passes and private transfers from your choice of airport.
There are a lot of exciting new developments in the Portes du Soleil region this season.
Ski 2 has a fleet of on-call vehicles to shuttle skiers around their resorts
In Avoriaz, two new six-packs will form a new link to the Swiss border. The lower one will replace the existing slow triple Léchère chairlift from the Lindarets bowl but the top station will be higher and will meet the other completely new Cases six-pack which will end on the ridge leading to a blue run down into Switzerland.
In Morzine, the red Aigle Rouge piste from the Nyon peak will be completely rebuilt and rerouted, hopefully making it wider and more enjoyable. In the Pléney area a new blue piste will be created from the top of the Belvédère chairlift. The ESF is starting new off-piste skiing and safety lessons with both adult and children’s groups. The Nyon terrain park is being completely remodelled and upgraded.
In Les Gets, a new spa ‘Les Sources du Chéry’ has opened with massage and treatment rooms and a 1000sqm area reserved for adults with steam baths, saunas, underwater massage jets, waterfalls, swimming lanes and salt caves. There’s a kids’ area with pools and a waterslide. Snowmaking has been increased and now covers 50% of the pistes. On Mont Chéry, there’s a new dedicated uphill piste for ski touring. And there’s a new ‘luxury picnic area with BBQs’.
