Two new lifts for Bansko

Bansko has introduced two new lifts this winter, one of which replaces the long summit draglift.

A quad has been built along the line of the top Plato double draglifts – the main point in the ski area that needed updating. It replaces one of the drags, with the other still shown in place. But the new chair has a lower starting point than the former lift (at the top of blue 10), 1500m long, is three times faster and should reduce peak time queues.

Part of the prompting for this new lift was damage to the area last year, as a result of a hut fire which destroyed the Platato mountain restaurant.

In another part of the ski area, a six-pack replaces the Kolarski quad that serves the Banderitsa area – and mostly carries novices. Upgrading this lift increases capacity by 50% and ought to halve waiting times.

Bansko already has a good proportion of fast chairs serving its slopes, and the new summit lift will certainly benefit skiers using the top runs.
