Uber launches for skiers in Utah

The share economy comes to Salt Lake City offering new transport for skiers
Uber, the app that connects passengers directly with drivers, has launched its first ski resort service in the US.
uberSKI launched in Salt Lake City in Utah last weekend and offers a cost-effective way for skiers and snowboarders to get to the mountains. Drivers that have signed up to offer the service have four-wheel drive and ski/snowboard carrying capabilities.
To launch the service, Uber teamed up with gear provider Backcountry to offer a $500 gift card as a prize to any skiers and snowboarders using the service last weekend. Uber is also working with Rhino Rack to offer drivers a discount on purchasing ski racks for their cars.
If you’re in Salt Lake City and new to Uber, the code UBERSKIUT will get you at $20 discount. Meanwhile, we wonder how long it might take for Uber to open this service in Europe — perhaps around Geneva airport to start with? Watch this space…
Here’s how the new uberSKI service works
