Ski resorts across the US are this month running special offers designed to encourage newcomers to the mountains.

The annual Learn to Ski and Snowboard month runs across the States throughout January. Resorts from Colorado in the Rocky Mountains to New England, the Mid West and South East all running good deals on ski lessons, equipment hire and lift passes — or in some cases free.

This year organisers are running a campaign on social media call #firstdayfaces and is offering any newcomers to the mountains who post pictures on social media with the hashtag #firstdayfaces to win a three-day trip for two people with in Utah. The winners will get return flights (within the US) to Salt Lake City, skiing at Snowbird, Summer, Solitude and Brighton, a two-hour lessons and three day’s ski or snowboard rental during the 2015/16 season.

Around 94% of skiers and snowboarders were introduced to the sport through a friend, so Learn to Ski and Snowboard month is also running a “Bring a Friend” incentive, for current skiers to sign up their friends.
