W Verbier launches DJ contest

Goldfish playing last year at Farinet: W Hotels wants to add to the Ibiza vibe

Fancy a job in a ski resort with a difference? W Verbier, the Swiss ski resort’s newest five-star hotel, is looking for a resident DJ.

Verbier is fast becoming known as the Ibiza of ski resorts, with the likes of Goldfish (pictured) playing regularly during the winter. W Verbier plans to be at the forefront of après-ski cool when it opens on 1 December this year.

The W Hotel group is opening its search wide for a DJ who wants to ski all day and spin all night. Any interested spinners are invited to submit an original track or video showcasing their mixing style, along with their CV, via this link, before 30 September.

“We’re looking for a DJ who shares the W brand’s passion for music and will be committed to bringing what’s new and next in the music scene to the W Verbier audience,” said Michaelangelo L’Acqua, W Hotels global music director.

“If you’re an energetic, nocturnal soul who is experienced in creating amazing beats and ready to relocate to Switzerland for the winter season, the W Verbier resident DJ role could see you setting the musical pace for the hottest new destination in the Swiss Alps.”

After the closing date of 30 September, six shortlisted DJs will be invited to spin over three nights in November in W London, Leicester Square, in front of a panel of judges including Mr L’Acqua, W Hotels & burn 2012 DJ Lab artists Aline Magnier and Klaus Rosa De Macedo of London Beats.

The final three will go into a “DJ battle” on 9 November at Happening in Wyld, W London’s bar, where they will be joined by a guest celebrity DJ. The winner will be flown to Switzerland the following week.
